We are looking for an experienced Team Lead to supervise landscaping projects in Winnipeg and the Interlake. The position is hands-on and on-site. Key responsibilities include overseeing a landscaping team to ensure projects are executed and completed to Spruce Acres high standards with professionalism, enthusiasm, and customer service.

Job description

As the Team Lead Landscaper, you will:

  • Adhere to Spruce Acres’ operational and safety practices and policies
  • Be responsible for building landscaping projects by leading teams and participating in the following activities:
    • Represent Spruce Acres with integrity, professionalism and energy
    • Build landscaping projects with materials, tools and equipment provided
    • Train employees, mentor and oversee the work of team members
    • Conduct daily safety briefings with team members
    • Participate in design, estimates (spreadsheets), quotes, and scheduling 
    • Conduct customer site visits 
    • Manage customer expectations 
    • Escalate customer or employee concerns 
    • Manage project budgets and schedules
    • Maintain tools and equipment
    • Operate power tools and heavy equipment
    • Order materials from suppliers, and/or pick up from vendors
    • Transport tools, material, and equipment 
    • Lift heavy items
    • Work outdoors in variable weather conditions
    • Participate in training from time-to-time (landscaping, hardscaping, softscaping)
    • Record, submit and approve timesheets and expenses daily
    • Lead project reviews upon completion 
    • Capture photos and video of project lifecycle for training and promotion 
    • Maintain a daily activity journal
    • Other duties as assigned

You and your experience:

  • 3-4 years of experience in landscaping or general construction
  • Self-motivated and responsible with the ability to motivate and support teams
  • Project leadership experience, proven team member
  • Positive attitude and enthusiasm
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, enjoy dealing with customers
  • Good aptitude for budgeting and tracking labour and costs
  • Ideally possess a Class 3 driver’s license, or Class 5 at minimum 
  • Familiarity with hardscaping, softscaping, landscaping practices
  • Ability to operate a skid steer and other heavy equipment
  • Good mechanical understanding and aptitude
  • Ability to work with Microsoft Excel software
  • Have transportation to and from job sites
  • Fluency in verbal and written English
